Separate School Ways

It's a big year for Owen. He gets to move up to 6th grade and a new school this fall! They had "Bobcat Camp" for 6th graders where we picked up his schedule and walked through his classes a week before school. There's a lot to cover, what with a locker, different class locations and requirements, bus logistics, and memorizing a unique schedule. It's definitely a step up in responsibility! He humored me with a picture, and then we sat through a pep rally to get excited about school! Go Bobcats!

Owen gets to choose an elective this year, and he chose to learn to play the cello in orchestra. We lucked out in that Aunt Jenn played the cello and had her old cello available for Owen to borrow and practice with at home. She gave him an intro and some handy tips to get him started. Thanks Aunt Jenn! We'll take good care of it.

Not to be outdone, Hadley is excited to be flying solo this year. We went to her 'Meet the Teacher' night a couple of days before, and she wanted to say hi to all of her teachers. This girl loves school and was counting down the days until she could go back.

Before we knew it, it was the first day of school! We had to take the annual picture on the stairs, and then Owen insisted on escorting Hadley to school, just like old times.

Junior high starts an hour later than elementary, so O has a weird break after H leaves and before he walks to the bus. This is our first experience with riding the bus, but at least it fills with neighborhood kids at one stop and then goes straight to school. I don't have to worry about him; he turned the corner and met up with a friend on the way to the bus.

I'm sure it will be a great year, kids!
