Musical Moments

Owen's orchestra held a holiday concert. Recordings of their songs are here; Owen is in Advanced Orchestra. Or you can enjoy my video below, where they play most of "A Holiday Hoedown." I should have kept recording, because it was only about 20 seconds longer until the end, but I had no idea, so I apologize for the abrupt ending. Owen is on the right between the 2 Santa hats.

Hadley loves attending all of Owen's events and waiting for his turn...

A boy and his cello.

In other music news, one of Hadley's early Christmas presents was a pair of tickets to go see one of her favorite singers, Dermot Kennedy. He just happened to be the opening act of a radio concert, so I took her to her first concert (on a school night, no less)!

We were in the balcony, but I think we had pretty good seats. Here she is with Dermot on stage behind her and a little snippet, so you know what he sounds like. It's just him, an Irishman, and his guitar, and it was actually his birthday! I think he was not what H was expecting.😆

We were probably some of the only people who actually went to the concert specifically for the opening act, but we did enjoy the other two bands. I don't want to infringe on any copyrights, so maybe you've heard these (if not, Google them!):
Band Camino - I Think I Like You
One Republic - Apologize, Counting Stars, Love Runs Out, Secrets... I will say they had a lot more songs that I had heard of than I realized. Bonus: they featured a cello in several songs, and they played some of the hit songs they wrote for the likes of Beyonce, Adele, and Taylor Swift.

It was a fun concert, but we did get home pretty late. School/work came a little too soon the next day, but at least it was a blow off week for one of us. The week prior, H participated as a finalist in the school spelling bee. She's the emoticon in the front row. Haha. I guess I need to check on the school permissions. Of note: spelling bees are done online now with an audio recording.
