Making Progress

Owen's really been making progress in the tummy time/head lift milestone, which is exciting since he used to hate tummy time. Check him out; he's not even resting his head on his hands:

When we go on a walk or leave the house, I usually put a hat on him. He's a good sport, although I can tell he does not like the hats as much as I do. :) I thought this knit cap was pretty cute, despite his serious expression...

Snow Day!

It was sunny and 70+ on Sunday, now 2 days later, it's snowing. Strange winter. Anyway, Owen got to see his first snow today! This is our backyard.

In other news, he's becoming much more smiley and interactive. Here is a picture of his crooked smile that he likes to give. Not the best example, but the best I could capture on film!

And he's been sleeping a lot the last few days. He conked out in a matter of seconds on the Boppy after just having been fussy...

Lastly, it's pseudo-official in that I called my boss yesterday to let him know that I would not be returning to NI. It went pretty well, and he was understanding. Just have to go in to the office later to make it really official (and to show off Owen per his request).

Future Longhorn

Owen got to visit TACC yesterday and meet John's co-workers. He was pretty popular and dressed appropriately for the occasion.

2 months old!

Today was Owen's 2-month checkup. He weighed in at 11 lbs and 22.5 inches long. I found out that the 90th % that they are using is according to the preemie chart, so it goes by gestational age. On the 'normal' chart, he's at about 40th % for both. He also got 3 vaccine shots, so we're supposed to keep him dosed up on Tylenol for the next day or two. He cried for a little bit, but got over it pretty quickly!

In other news, happy belated Valentine's Day!

For a visual comparison, here he is in the same outfit the day after Christmas and on Valentine's (about 5 lbs difference):

Baby's first YouTube

Owen becomes talkative when he's on his play mat. See for yourself! (Believe it or not, the insightful commentary was not scripted...)

Going out to Dinner

So far, February has not been very kind to me. I was finally getting over my 'grunge' last week and came down with some kind of food poisoning yesterday. Fun. Anyway, that's why the blog has been lagging.

We actually went to our first dinner out as a family last Friday. Owen slept through the whole experience though. A trip in the car always knocks him out! Here's a before, during, and after of the night...

He's finally outgrown his Newborn-sized clothing (lengthwise) and is now a 0-monther! He's fitting in lots of things now, which is exciting.

I thought this picture was too cute. It's fun now that he's smiling. My goal for next time is to attach a movie of him smiling and talking!

Sleeping Habits

I awoke this morning to find that John had been miniaturized during the night!
In looking at the posts so far, I realized that none depicted O's true passion, so I've got to add one for the record. Owen's true love: his binky/paci/pacifier! It is a blessing and a curse, since the little guy cannot keep it in his mouth for more than 5 minutes w/o assistance.

January recap

Well, I've been sick for the last 5 days, but luckily Owen hasn't got it yet. I've been washing my hands a lot and using that hand sanitizer stuff. Keep your fingers crossed!

Anyway, I thought I'd post some of my favorite picks from January pre-blog days. Looking back I can definitely see that he's put on some meat in the last few weeks!

This one was taken just a few days after the Horns devastating championship loss. He's still showing his support and hoping it was all just a bad dream...

Here's the obligatory bath picture. Note that we took the proper precautions for both modesty (strategically placed washcloth) and safety (John's hand restraint).

And here's a memorable pose with Grandad. See the resemblance?

Lastly, this one is to prove that I do more than just take pictures. :)
