Texas, Houston leg

Then it was time to head to Houston for the other family half.  But first, we stretched our legs at a Caldwell city park.  The kids hadn't seen a park in quite a while, so they had some fun...

And a stop-off in Brenham for lunch and a tour of Bluebell Ice Cream!

I don't think I'd ever been to the factory, but it was pretty interesting to see the manufacturing floor (no pics allowed) and the history of the place.

And of course, what we really came for: free samples after the tour!  They had 30+ flavors to choose from, some of which I'd never heard of.  We tried banana split, pumpkin spice pecan, chocolate peanut butter, Christmas cookies, and buttered pecan = yum!

Everyone convened at Uncky Dan and Aunt Jenn's house, waiting for Oma and Grandpa to arrive, before saying good-bye to Granna and Grandad at Chuy's.  Ever notice how family gatherings always center on food?  Nothing better than some tasty Tex-Mex to fit the bill.

The next day, the grandparents treated the kids to Chuck'E'Cheese's.  Boy, did they have a good time!  I think we played just about every game they had.  Owen diligently played an entire song on Guitar Hero and got 0% notes hit.  Ouch!  :)  But it didn't matter to him!

So, they were tuckered out and slept through the entire visit with my college buddy, Kathy and her newborn, Samuel.

Then it was time for Uncky Dan's birthday celebration!  We ate gourmet burgers and brews for dinner, and Aunt Jenn made a delicious salted caramel chocolate cake for dessert.

We were all excited for CAKE!  We FaceTimed in Daddy from Idaho, and Hadley told him a new phrase, "I miss you!"  So sweet.

Though our time in Houston was little more than 48 hours, we got in some good family time and enjoyed some slightly warmer temperatures before heading home.

Thanks for putting us up with a place to lay our heads, D&J!  Texas, see you again real soon (in April)!
