Red, White, and Blue

Once again, we had a fantastic 4th of July! Our little town goes all day, from a morning parade, to a full-day festival, to the million dollar firework finale after dark. The parade starts at 9, and we biked to a friend's relative's business right along the route. It was actually chilly enough to need some layers, and biking the reverse parade route before it started was pretty fun, although we got some funny looks.

It's definitely more fun to watch the parade with friends. Check out these patriotic kids!

The actual parade seemed a little slower and quieter this year, but there were still lots of great floats and tons of candy for the kids over 2 hours. The bike ride home was a little harrowing with construction blocking part of our route and cars trying to leave, but we survived, and it's still fun to be able to do that as a family!

It was a pretty hot day, so the neighborhood slip-n-slide was a hit! We finished off the day with a backyard pot-luck at friends', and we watched the fireworks from our 'hood, too, since it was a long day. Good thing because a certain little blondie fell asleep 2 minutes in to the 30-min firework show.
