I had asked the kids if there was anywhere specific in town that they would like to visit one more time, and Owen said the zoo. So, the next day, we met friends at the zoo. It was so nice to see this group in one of our favorite spots. We love all of these kids!
And of course, it was very special for me to see some of the ladies from my support system of playdates, MOPS, card club, bunco, bootcamp, book club, and general "survival of life with young children" sisterhood.
That night, Hadley got to attend a fancy birthday party for Ali. The girls got all dressed up, and as H reported later, "We got to wide in a wimo!" Miss Paula even did H's hair all in fancy curls.
Aren't they so cute? They took a limo to dinner and a cookie place for dessert. Then they came back for a movie on the lawn.
In the limo, they celebrated with sparkling cider in champagne flutes. Turns out, Hadley really likes sparkling cider... so, that's going to be fun in a few years... Ha!
On Saturday, we biked to the farmer's market, still a staple along the river in summer.
After enjoying some locally roasted coffee and fresh-squeezed lemonade, we admired the river and perused our favorite park, the Japanese Garden. We even witnessed a wedding taking place in the park.
Downtown IF seems to really be coming alive with some new buildings, event centers, restaurants, and beautiful murals hiding in the alleys.
Meanwhile, the kids were spending every spare minute with their buddies. The girls pretty much stayed in Ella's room - sleeping, playing, talking, and reading. The boys did not move much from the basement, finally living out the dream of so many pre-planned joint video game excursions. We were on vacation, after all.
It was a little odd to see our old house again. It looked pretty much the same, but it was weird to be walking by, rather than opening the door. We gawked at it every time we went past, and I just had to get one last picture of it with the kids before we left town.
