We finally made it to the War Bonnet Rodeo this year. It gave us an excuse to put on our boots and hats and play cowgirl and cowboy. Yeehaw!
It's the oldest local rodeo, and we signed up Owen to do Mutton Bustin', too. For those that don't know, mutton bustin' is where 7-and-unders hop on a sheep and try to hold on (just to the wool!) as long as possible. I think Owen lasted 1.5 seconds, but he had fun, got a belt buckle, and said he'd do it again next year! (His friend Carson did great and got a huge 2nd place trophy!) Here's Owen's ride - don't blink!
Mutton bustin' was considered part of the pre-show. This double-amputee paratrooper flew in with a giant flag to get the rodeo started. Pretty impressive!
There were rodeo clowns, bucking bulls, lassos, and barrel races. Lots of fun stuff to witness. It was a long night, especially without naps, but the kids made it through the whole thing. Though they both passed out in the 10-minute drive home.
