Last of Summer

It's always hard to believe that summer is over.  We had so much fun, even with the weather's ups and downs, that it seemed to fly by.  This post is just a collection of little moments that didn't get covered in other posts. First, there was swimming.  We did 2 sessions each.  Owen moved up to the eel class with this group of 5-year-olds that have known each other for 4 years. :)

Add in the next group of little siblings, and it was an hour of back-to-back swim lessons.

Best of all, Owen really learned to swim!  He loved it and the diving board, but still prefers water where he can touch his toes.

No school obligations meant lots of sibling time.  Owen has learned to value his alone time, but to ask for it in a fairly civil way.  Hadley is still learning how to give him his space.  But, I'm happy to report that they enjoy each other's company for the most part!

We also soaked up as much time as we could with our friends before they moved away.

This was one of those "it's too quiet and that's probably bad" discoveries.  I think Reagan was a doctor fixing H's broken leg by smearing a tube of white toothpaste from hip to toe and sticking cotton balls to it.  Ay yi yi!

These boys really were the best of friends and miss each other so much!

We also enjoyed the frequent post-dinner bike ride/scooter/walk.  These are the moments I try and take a mental picture to file away forever.

Oh, I ran 3.21 miles to support our friend's Down Syndrome outreach group.  And we all walked a mile after that as a family.

Correction: Owen (and Daddy) ran the mile!  He was hesitant at first, but really did run the whole thing.  We were so proud.  In typical fashion, he said it was great, but didn't want to do it again. Ha!

And one of the best parts of summer - the garden!  It's been producing so many raspberries this year, I'm trying to figure out what to do with them all.  They are delicious fresh, but I've made jam, muffins, and even frozen some. H requests them at dinner every night.  The garden is also currently producing cherry and slicing tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers.
